"What will happen to us when we become last week's news?"

This question stuck with me when listening to an interview on WGEM news from a resident of Joplin who was devastated by the tornado that swept through and completely wiped out an entire section of the town in an instant--leaving the families that survived stranded and in complete shock. Its powerful winds ripped trees out of the ground, picked up semis, flattened homes, gas stations, hotels, restaurants and left their hospital unrecognizable.. turning them all into rubble. Those that had family members missing, wondered hopelessly where they were, and if they would ever be back, safe in their arms.

Volunteers flocked to the area. News stations, TV stations, Newspapers across America covered this story and it touched people's lives and may have moved them to tears, may have even moved them enough to keep tuning in, maybe people opened their wallets and donated to the red cross, or went to the local hospital and donated blood and maybe it even moved people enough to get into their cars and go and volunteer.

but the struggle still goes on for this missouri town. They still need your help.

If you haven't already donated or volunteered your time, Joplin is still in need and will be for years to come. Every little bit counts.

When I'm driving, I like to entertain myself by trying to find interesting things around me that are picture-worthy. In doing this, I gain an appreciation for the other-wise over-looked objects, abandoned buildings, or natural formations that make up the open country-side I live in. Often times I need to get to a place on time and don't take the extra time to pull over, but I love the freedom to expand my creativity and am going to try to create a collection of my own images of my travels.
